Our intentions and goals

The coastal Aegialeia with its tourist infrastructure, provides the visitor the opportunity to spend unforgettable moments at any time and if he visits. That is why many of our guests, especially in the summers and on their vacations, find it very difficult to spend them all by a pool, or splashing on a beach, no matter how beautiful it is.

As a result, they are asking us for information on how to spend their time with something more interesting and special and of what else exists in the combined area of Aigialeia / Kalavryta: they practically ask us to act as an “informal link” with the most interesting “elements” of the area, in terms of wine tasting, ecology, excursions, archeological sites, museums, beautiful beaches and good food.

Consequently, with the services of the “Oinoxenia Quality Network” and being well acquainted with the area for over 15 years, in the end it is not difficult to assist them, hence the main question we ask them is simultaneously very simple:

to interesting places

The tavern “Maistreli”

In this context, we have created various circular routes, which are combined with the places that are probably of interest to them, at which point a good program is created with a good “exercise on paper”:

Usually if they are interested in the delicious and well-prepared lunch they start from the tavern “Maistreli“, which is located on an excellent pebble beach under high eucalyptus trees on the beach of Selianitika and with the very hospitable owners Thanasis and Takis, who during the winter they work in their tavern “Liopetro“.

For our visitors during winter “Liopetro” is suitable as a very remarkable winter destination and we recommend it not only because of its excellent cuisine and service, but from there you can see the magnificent view of the entire Aigio (up to Aliki), as well as the Corinthian gulf from east to west.

Nearby beaches of Aigio

At the same time leaving Selianitika and going to visit Aliki Aigio, we can stop in between for a swim in the beautiful, clean, pebble beaches, which we see on our left side.

“Acheon” winery

In the afternoon we can visit the hospitable winery “Acheon Winery” for a complete tasting of their beautiful wines (with the help of the kind Katerina), where in the ample parking space, in the summer we can get samples of cultivation from their vineyards and even taste their wine grapes at the end of August.

“Acheon Winery” is located very close to the eastern entrance / exit of Aigio (exit no. 21 of the new national road) and at a short distance from “Psila Alonia“, which is the main square of Aigio.

However, the acquaintance with the wines of “Acheon Winery” does not end with a tasting and a tour of their modern winery but continues with something more essential: from May to September the wine tasting can be done on their beautiful vineyards, which are cultivated in the village of Mamousia (at 900 m. altitude).

There, under the big oak tree, which is located at the edge of the vineyard, the “hostess” is Katerina with her own homemade recipes and her cool wines, she offers us complete experiences of “wine tasting”, after the beautiful walk in their well-maintained vineyard, while admiring the exceptional valleys of the Vouraikos and Kerinitis rivers.

Wine bar “Cube” (Kivos)

Therefore, if we wish to end our evening with a light and delicious dinner we can choose the wine bar “Cube” (Kivos), located right on the beach of Aigio in a nice place and which is adjacent to the towering “Platanos of Pausanias” and the area with the 12 communal marble fountains.

Apart from the beauty of the place, “Kivos” has a very large wine cellar from all the wineries of coastal Aigialeia and which combines recipes smartly and tastefully with the local dishes and the excellent appetizers.

Therefore, if the visitor does not have enough time to visit the wineries, alternatively he can taste in “Kyvos”, the most beautiful wines of Aigialeia throughout the day and overlooking the neighboring beach and the Corinthian gulf.

“Cavino” winery

However, if there is more time available (and we want to start the wine tasting in the morning), it is also possible to visit even 3 beautiful wineries, such as “Cavino” https://www.cavino.gr, which is the oldest one of the 10 wineries, and which was founded in 1958, and located at the western entrance / exit of Aigio (exit no. 22 of the new national road), next to the river Meganitis.

There we can wait for the hospitable Evangelia, who is the oenologist and member of the Board “Oinoxeneia”.

The winery “Cavino” in addition to the large and convenient room for wine tasting (where it also has a permanent exhibition with all types of wines it produces, and the awards it has won throughout the years), provides also for visiting the “Great Vine” which is the oldest vineyard of the monastery “Big Cave” in “Lovas to lagadi”, heading towards to Kalavrita

From the end of spring, “Megali Ampelos” which has been completely renewed with new varieties will be open by appointment, being accessible by car until the entrance, while its view is excellent from the provincial road Diakofto – Kalavrita

“Rouvalis” winery

In just 5 minutes’ drive from the exit 21 of Olympia Odos, going up to the mountain village of Fteri, we can visit the gravitational winery Rouvalis. Its founder is Angelos Rouvalis, who is active intensively and with the right proposals in the “community” of Aigialeia and is the inspirer of the events “Oinoxeneia” (Wine + Hospitality), as held for the last 10 years in the 2^nd fortnight of August.

There, Angelos’ daughter, Theodora and her Spanish husband Antonio Ruiz, two oenologists with worldwide experience, will be waiting for us for a tour of the winery and a wine tasting experience.

The tour of the Rouvalis winery is practically a “mystagogy”, especially the visit to its lower parts, where there are the rare wine barrels of its red wines aging.

How they choose and use oak barrels (from France and Canada) is practically a whole science to ensure their final aromas and colors (which finally succeed with the methods and knowledge of the founder of the winery Angelos and his daughter Theodora, having both of them excellent studies and experiences in France).

“Rira” winery

In fact, if we find ourselves there at the end of August / beginning of September, then we can anticipate a morning or afternoon visit to the winery “Rira“ and attend a demonstration of winemaking in front of our eyes, from his hospitable oenologist, who is very passionate about her interesting work and is very vivid in her narratives.

The peculiarity of the winery “Rira” (apart from the fact that it is located at a distance of 3 km from our villas and on the old national road Patras – Corinth) is that it starts earlier the harvesting and the winemaking, since its vineyards are located at a very low altitude (300-400m.), compared to the vineyards of the other 9 wineries of coastal Aigialeia (located even at 900m, i.e., in the mountain village of Mamousia).

As visitors to the “Rira” winery, in addition to the initial wine tasting, we are usually offered fresh mustard flour (separately from white and black grapes), while our little friends are also offered fresh, cool juice from black and red grapes.

Preparing interesting and useful visits

In Panorama & Primavera Villas along with the welcome and information about coastal Aigialeia, we provide them with bilingual maps for the provinces of Aigialeia and Kalavryta, which are laminated and can be taken with them:

We place on them with a colored marker the points they are interested in for visiting, so the rest is taken over by the GPS of their car and mobile phone.

For all the above visits it goes without saying that we will have previously informed the managers of the wineries and we will also have given their mobile phones to our guests (as well as reliable information about times and distances), so that their excursions / getaways are interesting and while following easy routes, based on the notion that our guests should finally leave with beautiful memories and experiences.
